Vicky joined Moorcroft in 1999 as a painter, and for many years both consistently and successfully entered pieces in the annual Open Weekend staff auction which takes place at the Moorcroft factory during Club Members’ Open Weekend each year. Her considerable success did not pass unnoticed. In 2006, Winter’s Moon was launched as an exclusive piece for Moorcroft Collectors’ Club members. This limited edition sold as quickly as one of Vicky’s famous meteorites that year. Further success followed and then, on 1st September 2011, Vicky was elected into the coveted Moorcroft Design Studio.
Since then, Moorcroft collectors have not been disappointed and in especially so in 2014. For the 2014 Moorcroft Catalogue Vicky debuts a range which she describes as the design she is most proud this year, Summer Silhouette. In this design, Vicky was enthused to utilize monochrome tones for a silhouette of cow parsley. She has also included thick tube-lining denoting the petals, making every piece exceptionally texturized. A similar technique is used on the seeds of her numbered edition design, Seeds of Time depicting the fluffy white plumes of aging dandelion heads.
We also see Eventide Winter, a range in which classic trees in the style of William Moorcroft climb out of a landscape hewn out of Pennine rock.
Of course, a catalogue wouldn’t be complete without an astrological design of hers and Neptune, with its abstract and mysterious depths, steps up to the mark this year. In a stark contrast to this, showing Vicky’s varied and malleable design style, Pied Wagtails demonstrates her natural ability to apply the subtle and tender details in birds, ranging from the shiny texture of their wing feathers to the light speckling on their under-bellies.
As a designer whose career is very much in the ascendant, Vicky’s early work is already sought after and thankfully, she continues to feed those appetites.
